{Per Otago.) The ship Queen of the North, for Napier, was spoken on the 21st November. She has a number of emigrants aboard, including 50 single girls in charge of Miss Herbert. The working men are returning in shoals from America in consequence ,of the distress there. The exports to New Zealand to December 4 were L 403.000. Madame Goddard was a financial failure in India, There has been a great fire in Yeddoj by which 5,000 houses were destroyed. The Queen secured the principal prize for Devons at the Smithfield show. • . The reconstruction of the Alexandra Palace is proceeding rapidly, and it will be ready for re-openmg by the end of June. Bandmann, the German actor, has been arraigned before a Magistrate at Plymouth for alleged violence to an actress during a performance.
