[By Telegram.] Auckland, January 2. At the races to-day about 800 persons were on the course. The following are the results of to-day’s racing Epsom Plate Handicap, sweepstakes of 3 soes, with 60 sovs added ; the second horse to receive 10 sots from the sakes. Histanoa, 1J mile. At the start Atalanta got off best, Slander was second, and Kakapo last but one till rounding the turn, when he came through and assumed a more forward position. In the straight. Slander, Atalanta, and Kakapo were all of a heap, the scouting being tremendous.
