MINING INTELLIGENCE.
The successful prospecting of tboO.P.Q. reef, at Waipori, has caused quite a quartz mania amongst the residents and others of that township. Jjarge areas of ground are being pegged off daily. At Drybread parties interested in the Sludge Channel have been busy washing up, the same quantity which they conanleted last week. The exact amount of the precious metal is not yet made known ; but it is very good. Hollands and party will not wash up until the New Year ; their claim L looking well. Norman and party, of Sugar-pot, finished cleaning up last week, and obtained 400ozs. between the party (four men). 'I he Mountain Race party are in the act of cleaning ; it is shaping for 6000z5., which will be a tirat-class return. Sammond will not clean up until the New Year, This claim will yield better than any in the district. Giay and party are al.*o doing well. M Clusky Bros., at Devonshire, will not wash up until after the New Year. This party latelybought out one of their partners, who has gone on a visit to the old country. The price realised was L 350 for a fourth share, •Tuapoka Times.’
