OTAGO RIFLE ASSOCIATION.

The tenth annual prize meeting of the Association commenced to-day, the first match being fired hy twp squads—pup at 5 a.m., the pther at t) a.m. The weather was very fine, there not being a brpath of wind during the firing of the first squad, and only occasional puffs while the seconcl competed. ' The arrangements were satisfactory, and Mr C. Armstrong supplied the refreshment department, providing tea and coffee for the early squads and a substantial dinner at mid-day. There are twelve prizes for the first match, the ranges for which were 200, 500, and 600 yards, five shots at each, and the thirteen highest scores arc given below ;

On testing Vol. Richardson’s rifle, we believe the trigger was found not to pull the required minimum weight, which, if the case, will disqualify him from taking a prize in this match and also from adding the score made to his totals in the remaining matches, for the aggregate prizes. The question is under the consideration of the council of the Association. The matches will extend over Saturday, find concede on Monday,

The first squad in the second match fell in at 1.30, and finished at 3.30. The highest scorers were: Dickson, Portobello, 43; Grant, N. 8., 40; J. Buchanan, W.T., 40; Taylor, No. 2, 39; Mackenzie, 38 ; Hatch, W.F., and Wishart, Portobello, 37; Leary, N.D., and Marshall, Waikari, 3G.
