Auckland, December 17. The half-yearly meeting of the New Zealand Insurance Company was held to-day. The report stated that after the payment of numerous losses, a balance of 1/7,454 profit would be carried forward to next half-year’s account. The Directors have increased the capital by carrying forward LIO,OOO, available from this halfyear, and the same amount from the investment fluctuating account, together with L 5,000 from the rc-insurance fund. The paid up capital now amounts to LIOO,OOO or L4O per share. The reserve fund is L 35.000, and the re-in-suranee L 40,000. A dividend of live per cent, was declared, payable to-morrow. Major Willis failed with the Muapoko as with the Ngatiraukawa. Take guards the Horowhemia stream, and is determined to shoot the first Muapoko who crosses. Several have already been sent back. Otaki is full of Ngatiraukawas, ready for any emergency.
