THE GOVERNOR’S VISIT.
His Excellency the Governor, Sir James Fergusson, lias intimated to his Honor the [Superintendent that he will not he able to reach Dunedin earlier than the 22nd or 2-Jrd of this mouth. He will travel overland from Canterbury. His Excellency expresses his desire that no extensive preparations will be made on Ids account, as he considers a welcome as hearty without these as with them. He particularly asks that he may not be expected to move through Dunedin in a procession, which is sometimes done on the occasion of a Governor's first visit, but which ho thinks inexpedient. He will lie happy to meet or he received by any representative or public bodies, or the general public, at any point or points that may be agreeable to ths persons concerned. His Excellency regrets Ids being so unavoidably late in arriving at Dunedin, but does not purpose on that account to shorten Ids visit. He will make Dunedin his headquarters for a mouth, ami intends visiting Invercargill.
