THE INTERPROVINCIAL CRICKET MATCH.
AUCKLAND V. WELLINGTON. (Br Telegraph.) Wellington, November 29. We continue our report of this match : Wellington went in for the second innings at 1 p.m., J. A. Salmon and Flanagan batting. Bowling, Sweet led olf with a maiden, Robinson on the other end. Flanagan caught mid on Dufaur, bowled Kobinson. One wicket for 0. 1. J. Salmon cut one midwicket for single; slipped a single off Kobinson, and rose Sweet for single ; skied one to off for 2. Robinson's left-handers not to be trifled with. Sweet is also putting on the pace tremendously. I. J. Salmon hit one midwicket off Sweet, and was run out. Wood coming in stood up to Kobinson, holding Ins tliird ball, and sending it to on for 2. J. A. Salmon got his first to square leg olf Sweet, and then 2to midwicket. Wood, cover point, 2. J. A. Salmon sent Sweet to square leg for a single. Sweet now gave way in the bowling to Buckland. Kobinson put in shooter, to which Wood succumbed. Three for 22. Salmon hit Kobinson to leg for 1. Salmon, also made a good 2 to square leg, but the next ball took his wicket. Four for 27. Jacobs now took the bat. After (three maidens had been bowled in succession, Evans hit 1 to midwicket, which was cleverly run. Jacobs then ■ made a good hit to long-field for 2, and Evans slipped a single. Jacobs skied one, but Buckland missed the catch. Jacobs run out. Five for 34. Fielding very sharp. Salmon made a nice slip for 2, and Evans gave a good cut for 2, both making a tine stand. W. Salmon hit for 3 off Kobinson, Sweet stopping it in fine style. Buckland was cut by Evans for 2, and Salmon skied for 2, Sweet and Lankham having again begun bowling. Fielding good. Salmon gave a magnificent off hit for 3, The Aucklanders seem tired, the batters aggravating!}’ cool, taking 2 byes miming, A run to Evans. Salmon made a cut for 2 off Lankham. Evans then made the neatest cut of the day off Sweet, followed by a beautiful draw, and Salmon then gave a hit for 3. The excitement now was intense ; hopes of Wellingtonians attaining high, the score of 30. Salmon sent a ball from Kobinson amongst the people in the pavilion for 2. Hit to slip for Salmon. Sweet’s bowling getting wide, 3 byes being made. The Aucklander’s, evidently puzzled, made another change, Buckland being sent to bowl. Salmon run out after scoring 29. Six for S6. Robinson took Evans’s bails clean. Seven for 91, Evans making 17. Knapp’s stumps were sent flying by Kobinson. Eight for 97. The Wellington team continued making good play, and ran the score up to 120. Auckland played splendid in the second innings. Wellington being weak in bowling, having no change, Auckland knocked the balls about very smartly. Eventually topped the Wellington score, with three wickets to go down. The match was very exciting. Wellington was not so successful in bowling and fiehlin" as in the former innings, and Auckland won the game with three wickets to go down.
