WANTED Known, Mornington Band of Hope meet Monday, 17th hist., 7.30 sharp. All are invited. [Advertisement.] STAMPER AGAINST BELLAMY AND ANOTHER, To the Editor of the Evening Star. SIR, —My desire to undeceive a deceived portion (including the K. M. Court) of the public, as well as to correct a lopsided, in operative, and abortive decision given in favor of one and against the other of two joint defendants on contract, based too on preposterously false state incuts, so far as they concern me (but with which decision I was otherwise perfectly satisfied), composed one reason why 1 asked the U. M. to re-bear my case against Bellamy and Lane, but, as that mode has been refused, : begto ask, as the probable only other means of setting the matter right before the public, to kindly allow this j insertion in your paper. It would be quite j uninteresting and tiresome to the patience of your readers to trouble them with a detail of a mere private affair, in opposition to another’s untruths and gross absurdities; and therefore I shall let this suffice, that I most unqualifiedly and emphatically deny certain statements, which 1 was sorry (and for his sake, being so untrue, 1 was ashamed) to see he had made, and which appeared in the report of this case—namely, that the contract for sale was never read over to him , (Bellamy). On the contrary, the same was on at least three different occasions read over, and not only explained to, but remarks made by him thereon. He also himself sat down and deliberately read the same ; and, as a man of intellect, there is no doubt he perfectly understood that he, as vendor, was to pay for reducing bis title, and the purchaser to pay for the conveyance, in the usual course of business, as between them. Yours truly, JOHN STAMPER. Rattray street, November 15, 1873.
