VENTILATION.

To the, hJditor, Sir, —My attention has been called to a letter published in the Evening Star signed by Mr E. J. Sanders, i,n which ho finds fault with Dr Richardson for expressing the opinion that the only “properly ventilated building'* ip the town is the Princess Theatre. Although Mr Sanders’s letter does not deny that it is a properly ventilated building, he claims superior ventilation and acoustic properties for the Queen’s Theatre, and further claims “ having introduced a proper system of ventilation iu Dunedin.” 1 have no wish to disturb Mr Sanders’s selfsatisfaction in his system, though I may fairly say the majority of those who have been in the Queen’s will not share in his opinP-n as to ventilation, at least. Mr Hunter, who made the alterations at the Princess Theatre, has not followed Mr Sanders’s lead, but adopted a system based upon several carefully conducted experiments, and applied in Victoria fifteen years ago. The arrange raents differ altogether from those adopted by Mr Sanders ; they involve very little expense, totally avoid sensible draughts, thoroughly diffuse pqro an;, a,ml do. away with the discomfort alyl danger to health that evei;yonq experiences in any other place of amusement in the City. As for the acoustic properties of the Princess Theatre 1 need say nothing. They are certainly not excelled, if equal’ed, by the Queen’s Theatre. 1 should have left Mr Hunter to reply to Mr Sanders, but he is not in town. —I am, &c., John SruiAJVVy Proprietor of the Princess Theatre.
