[By Electric Telegraph.] Wellington, October 2, In the House, the ameadments made by the Legislative Council in the Education Bill, striking out the clauses providing for higher class education, were disagreed with. Managers were appointed to confer with the Council. The amendments are insisted on. In the Legislative Council, Mr Waterhouse moved that his Excellency the Governor make inquiries into the requirements of the lav in the Civil Service, with the view of carrying out the provisions of the Civil Service Act, 1866.—The motion was carried.
