Auckland, September 24. At a meetin? of the Auckland shareholders in the New Zealand Shipping Co., held today, Messrs Campbell, Van der Heyde, and Isaacs were elected as the Auckland Directors.
Mr Alexander Saunders reports buyers of shares as follows :—National Bank, LI 15s ; South British Insurance, L2 5s ; Caledonian, Ll2 ; City of London, LI 8s; and Bright Smile, L 6. September 25. At a meeting of the creditors of Mr da*. Oldham, wine and spirit merchant. High street, lately deceased, a letter found in bis pocket was read, describing the mental torture he suffered owing to his position towards his creditors. He knew he had acted wrongly, but was led away by the hope of retrieving his position. He said be lost heart, and rather than face his creditors would appeal to a merciful God. The letter proceeds to say, “I give up all I have, together with my life, which is the only sacrifice I can make. ” Deceased had been unwell for a long time, but it was not anticipated ho would commit suicide. Lyttelton, September 24. borne salmon ova have been brought from Hobart Town by the Clematis. They are in a fair state considering the length of the voyage.
Hokitika, September 24. A large rush is taking place to the Haast River, although no further news has been received. The tug Titan sailed thither today with sixty passengers and a full cargo, and other steamers follow to-night.

The Independent to-day severely condemns the report of the Committee on Messrs Brogdeu’s petition. It accuses the Government of having suppressed certain correspondence from the Agent-General regarding Messrs Brogden’s claim under the immigration contract, and sa>s an interview took place between the Agent-General, the Hon. John Hall, and Mr James Brogden, the result of which interview was that the AgentGeneral wrote to the Government recommending that the proposal of Messrs Brogden be accepted.
