Mr J. T. Hart, who baa for the last twelve years held a clerkship in the Customs department, Dunedin, has received the appointment of chief clerk in the Custom Bouse, Christchurch, and this afternoon had presented to him a very handsome gold pencil case, bearing a suitable incription and a scroll expressing the esteem in which he has been held by all connected with the Customs department. Mr Hatf, wo believe will leave Dunedin with his on thd earliest opportunity, and will take with him the respect and good wishes of all who knovy him.
