Drunkenness. —Duncan Carmichael was fined ss, with the usual alternative. Charles Merchant, an inmate of the Benevolent Institution, who had been found by Constable Beasley “in the most beastly state he ever saw a man,” 10s, or forty-eight hours’.
Maintenance. William Johnson was charged with neglecting to contribute the sum of 5s a wsck towards the support of his child in the Industrial School, in accord ance with an or ler made at the City Police Court. Mr Britton asked to have the case withdrawn, as a friend of defendant had paid the amount owing. Case withdrawn, on payment of 5 s costs. Stray Cow's.—James Muir was charged with allowing two cows to wander. Constable Anderson stated where be found the cows, and that defendant had been frequently before the Court. He was fined 20s and costs. _
