A COMPLAINT.
To the Editor. Sir, — Allow me through your columns to draw tbe attention of the powers that be to the disgraceful state of the lower part of Rattray street. Every time that I have occasion to go there upon business I feel disgusted, aud ask myself the question who is to blame in allowing such a state of things to exist ? It is no exaggeration to say that there are holes large enough to upset a dray, and that it is at the imminent risk of life and limb to be under the necessity of driving along that street. My sole object, sir, in writing this is with the hope that this state of things may be rectified before any serious accident occurs. To my certain knowledge there has been
nothing done to that street for months past. Surely something can be done to remedy the evil.— I am, &c., John Garratt. Athol Place, Pelichet Bay, Dunedin, Sept. 2.
