Cant. Paterson reports leaving yesterday; got as far as Shag Point at 1 a.m. to-day, where she encountered a strong north-east gale, and rati back to Port Chalmers for shelter. The Harbor Company’s 9.9. Beautiful War arrived at 7.30 this morning, and steamed alongside the ship J. N. Fleming to discharge 280 cases of preserved meats. Reports leaving Lyttelton at 3 p.m, on the 28th, arrived at Akaroa at 0 p.m., left again at 10 p.m., arrived at Timaru at 10 a.m. on the 29th, left again at 7.30 p.m., and arrived as above, having experienced fine weather.
