Wednesday, August 20. (Before Bis Worship the Mayor ; and Messrs J. Black and A. J. Burns, Eeqs., J.Ps.) Drunkenness. —William Bell and George totton were fined ss, with the option of twenty-four hours’ imprisonment ; Mary Anne McDonald, against whom there were, three convictions for drunkenness during the last month, L2, or in default to undergo seven days’ imprisonment with hard laho-, Indkcent Exposure. —James Chambers was sentenced to forty-eight hours’ imprisonment for an offence of this nature, and was further ordered to pay the sum of 2s as cabhire. Theft. Lewis Christian, a native of Denmark, was charged with stealing a pair of calfskin Balmoral watertight boots, of the value of 255. the property of J. M'Laudrer', bootmaker, Princes street. The accused, who was rather the worse for liquor, went to Mr VI ‘Landress’s shoo, and asked to see a pair of boots. Those shown to him did no* seem to satisfy him, a-jd be said he would call again. While the Mr M ‘Gregor, was engaged in the ladies’ fitting-room, accused lifted the boots from off the peg on which they had been placed, and walked away with them. Mr M‘Gregor being informed of this, followed him a short distance, and “collared” him. He wa» afterwards arrested by Sergeant Dean, in Jetty street. He was sentenced to fourteen days’ imprisonment, with hard labor. Obscene Language. —Thomas Mitchell was charged by Caroline Pledger with making use of indecent language to her on th' 15th instant.—Mr M'Keay appeared for the complainant.—The parties are neighbors and a dead fowl belonging to complainant having got into defendant’s yards, he used insulting language toward* her —telling her “to goto h—, and be d—d,” and stating that her children were bastards.—He was fined 10s and costs.

Assault. —John Key, charged with assaulting his wife Janet Key, not appearing, a warrant was oidered to be issued for his apprehension. Infringement of the Bye-Laws.— Jap. Simpson, allowing cattle to wander, was mulcted in the sum of 10s, together with costs ; Allan Spencer, driving his horses and waggon round the corner of Rattray and Princes streets at other than a walking pace, 2s 6d and costs. A charge against Thomas Pavelitch of neglecting to clean his premises was discharged on payment of costs.
