London, July 24. _ The cholera in London causes much alarm in Britain. The Government and local bodies are endeavoring to mitigate the pestilence. The French Assembly passed a vote of confidence in the present Ministry. The Carlist insurrection in Spain is spreading. Don Carlos has a force of 30.000 men. The competition in the iron trade has led to further reduction. Pig-iron is now 109s; copper, LOO. Mr Gladstone declares for the speedy introduction of the household franchise in counties. The Education Bill passed, all the amendments being negatived. There have been severe storms ill the country districts. The Carlists, after their reverse on the Ebro, found large reinforcements and captured Igualada, near Barcelona. The Judicature Bill has passed. _ . The Russian Army of Occupation remains in Khiva. A bad harvest is expected in France. Seventeen Colonial awards were made at Vienna. COMMERCIAL. —The New Zealand Land Improvement Company, with a capital of L 500,000, is announced. The New Zealand Trust and Loan Company declare a 10 per cent, dividend. A company has been formed with L 150,000 capital, to work a gold mine (known as Tambaroora) in New South Wales. The English and Scottish Australian Bank declare a 7 per cent, dividend. Discount, 4 per cent. Shipping. —The sloop Blackadder, from Sydney, has arrived from Shanghai, under jury rig.
