CITY POLICE COURT.
Wednesday, June 18. (Before his Worship the Mayor.) Vagrancy.—Frank Emerson, alias Anderson, alias Johnston, on remand, was charged with having no lawful means of support. It was stated by the police that accused’s statement about money in the bank was without foundation, and he was sentenced to three months’ imprisonment with hard labor. Breach of the Licensing Ordinance. —John Forster, proprietor of the Artillery Hotel, was charged with having, on ths 6th instant, wilfully and lawfully permitted a man while in a state of intoxication to be supplied with ale.—Sergeant Golder deposed that the defendant had given a naan beer, while under the influence of drink.—Two witnesses proved that the man was perfectly capable of taking care of himseif.—bis Worship considered it unfair to single out any hotelkeeper, for the offence was a general one, and after warning defendant and the other hotelkeepers not to continue the practice, he was discharged with a caution,
