WASTE LAND BOARD.
The Waste Land Board met at 12.30 yet? terdcvy. Present: The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Buttenvorfch, Clark, Strode, and Tolmie.
Mr Doughty’s application for Messrs Nicol and Mackay, for a saw-mill license at Waipori Bush, was postponed. The application by Messrs Connell and Moodie for a reduction of fee for the sawmill at Gatlin’s River, of Messrs Guthrie and Asher, was referred to the Surveyor for report. Messrs Connell and Hoodie’s application for permission to John Nelson to complete survey of laud in block 13, Hillend, was granted. Survey to be completed by the district survey ox*. It was directed that Mr Jay be informed that the Government docs not wish to take advantage of the expiry of his agricultural lease, Leaning Block, since his application to purchase. Messrs Ureu and Bennett’s application to purchase 13 acres of laud in block 2, Mount Benger district, was declined, as contrary to the regulations. Richard Barnett’s request to reserve land sufficient for water-race purposes from that applied for by Messrs J. and J. Tamblyn, was declined, as contrary to the regulations. Messrs Tamblyn’s application was also declined, and last week’s decision reversed. Robt. Cryling’s application to purchase was declined for the same reason.
Mr A. Neville’s application for permission to Messrs Chatburn, Wren, Martin, and Broad to divert part of the ma : n road from Teviot to Coal Creek, was referred to the Government,
Sir F. D. Bell inquired if certain land in Shag Valley had been reserved, and was informed, through Mr George Cook that it was proclaimed lately a goldfield. Mr Cook agreed to give fresh notices for the appointment of an engineer to report on tho race he proposes to carry through the private property of Mr B. Luks. It was decided that the Board, having decided to withdraw the land from sale applied for by Captain Mackenzie, through Messrs Kenyon and Turton, considered there was no case to submit to the Supreme Court. The withdrawal was directed to be notified in the Gazette. The Hon. Dr Menzios was directed to b: informed that the laud near Tapanui, which he petitioned should be opened for occupation on del erred payments, was already withdrawn from sale. The applications of Alexander Aitkcu and VV. H. Huff, to purchase lands held under agricultural leases, were sanctioned ; as were also the applications of Jacob bheaiing, Robert Ford, William Colquhoun, R. Sutherland, Herbert M‘Kinlay, S. Williamson, and J. Downie*
A rehearing of a case already decided In the case of Mr Fer.iud, was granted for this day fortnight ; notice to be sent to the parties the Judge’s opinion being that such a rehearing could be given. _ Mr Edward Cock’s application, to have the names of Mr Thomas Jowitt and others -cgistered as having a share in a coal mine, was declined. The consideration of Warden Beetham, on Messrs D, Aitkcn and William Barker’s application for a saw-mill license at Bather’s Creek, Skippers, was postponed.
