MR FISH AND THE ROLL.

To the Editor,

Sir,—A letter appears in to-day’s Star from Mr H. S. Fish, jun,, complaining of the imperfect state of the Electoral Roll, and evidently claiming.the great discovery. In fairness to Mr Prosser allow me to state that he asked me four days ago to get registration forms, so as to induce those not registered to have their names placed on the roll. These forms 1 obtained, and some are in my shop, and some in Mr Prosser’s committee rooms. It is to be hoped that citizens will at once avail themselves of the opportunity and become registered. —lain, &c., Barnard Isaac. Dunedin, March 24. To the Editor. Sir,— lt is with feelings of thankfulness that I see Mr H S. Fish, jun., has turned his attention to the defects in our Registration System. Not that he is the first who discovered its defects, for it was your able leader that first directed attention to the imperfect state of the roll. Still, now that the Mayor has taken the matter up, I have no doubt that the Dunedin roll will have, through his exertions, as many names placed on it as there were placed in the Leith and South Wards rolls.

People may object to leasehold qualifications, &c., but my motto is the same as Mr Fish’s, “Register! register! register!” and if you can, fairly thensplit up leaseholds, but still “Register ! register! register !”—I am, &c., Elector.
