PORT CHALMERS RAILWAY.
To the Editor, Sir, —Giving]Mr Dalrymple, senr., every credit for his letter in this evening’s Star, it appears to me that he has overlooked one part of the question, and that is, how the railway officials are, with their present appliances, to get rid of their goods at this end. First, there is want of room for the proper sorting, and secondly a total want of knowledge on the part of the employes as to the proper mode of doing so. Mr D. has only to pay a visit to the goods-shed to satisfy himself of this. Time and experience will cure this evil, but the want of room, I fear, will not be so easily got over, as the present owners o| the railway having got a mono-
poly, and having a prospect of selling their interest, refuse to lay out any more money, and their customers are told they must put up with the inconvenience. I am, &c., An Old Traffic Manager. Dunedin, March 22.
