In the morning there was a strong S.W. wind ; in the afternoon the wind increased, blowing from all points of the compass, rendering it impossible to make good shooting, ’i he match lasted till dusk. Very great interest was taken in it. 'I he shooting last year was much better. Muir then gained the first prize with a total of GO ; Christie was second with 04 ; Grey, Kelly, and Moore, 02 each ; Macfarland, 00 ; Gordon, Humphreys, Bassett and Wales, 59 each.

Third Match for Cavalry.— Range 200 yards ; five shots ; position, standing ; no trial shot; targets, 0 x 4 feet; centre, 2 sect square : bulls-eye, 8 inches : Points. Hodge, Auckland - - Ist T. 5 15 Cowern, A.C. - - ■ 2nd L2 12 Douglas, Auckland - - 12 In firing off for second place, Cowern won by a point. The Cavalry Championship will be decided to-day. Third Match.— Range, 200 yards ; live shots; position, standing ; no trial shot allowed ; targets, 0 x 0 feet ; centre, 2 feet square ; bulla-eye, 8 inches : Points.
Thefe were five ties for the fourth prize, ami the shooting off rcsu'ted as above. The Chmipionship will be decided to-morrow. The weatlmr is Hue for shooting. 2 p m.
