Mr Brogden’s tender for portions of the Waitaki and Moeraki line, not ottered to public competition, viz., 26 miles, has been accepted at L 134,0 0. Private lett.rs state that Mr Vogel, after the Conference, made an agreement with the Queensland and New South Wales Governments for a joint guarantee for a cable from the Norman River to Singapore, and one between Australia and New Zealand. February 27.
The Rangatira brought 190 tons of coal from Urey mouth last night. Her engineers report most favorably on it for steam purposes. .
