Drunkenness. —Mary Forbes, an old offender, pleaded guilty to the above charge. Sub-Inspector Mallard said ho wished to speak favorably of the prisoner, as she had rendered great assistance to another prisoner while in the office last night. As the pris »ner had not been before tho Court for seventeen months, and as she bad been favorably spoken of by the Inspector, the Bench dismissed the case.—Ellen Green, the woman who caused the disturbance outside the Queen’s Theatre, after Dr Dunn’s lecture last evening, was then p’acod in the dock oa the same charge. tSub-Inepectar Mallard said the case was the worst ho had seen. When ihe woman was taken to tho station last night, lu r conduct and language were most disgraceful. She bad a child with her, who refused to go home, and he (witness) was forced t© remain with her till past midnight, when the child falling asleep, he had her removed.— 1 is Worship, who was an eyewitness of the affair, concurred with the remarks of witness, and fined her 10s, with the alternative of forty-eight hours’ imprisonment, Cruelty to Animals:— Wm. Johnston was fined 40s; in default to bo imprisoned for three days. Bye-law Cases.— Arthur Smith, allowing the Company's water to run to waste, was fined 5s and costs; Joseph Cook and. John Forster, for similar offences, were each fined 2s (id; Mrs Wilson, allowing her cows to wander, was dismissed with a caution; Chung Ching, neglecting to clean his premises, was mulcted iu tho sum of 2s 6d.
