EARLY CLOSING, OR A HEALTHY POPULATION.

To the Editor. Sib,—As I §ee, from the letters which have lately appeared in your paper, that this question is being opened up again, and as I believe it is quite'possible to carry the idea to a successful issue, would you allow me to make a few suggestions, in the event of the Saturday Half-Holiday Committee taking steps lor securing their much needed boon, it would be wise for them to secure the cooperation of all who desire to benefit by a half-holiday, say, grocers, drapers, butchers', saddlers, bakers, jewellers, ironmongers, joiners, blacbmiths, bricklayers, masons, gardeners, laborers, and, in fact, everybody who wants to live healthy, and consequently happy, not even forgetting printers and policemen. The next suggestion is, do not try for too much at first; have it on a sliding scale; but fix the scale so that if it move at all, the half-holiday will be extended, and not w* to* caae last yw, The

old fable of the boy and the nuta is appropriate. He put his hand into a hole to take out nuts} but when his hand was full, ho could not withdraw it; a mitt advised him to let go half the handful \ he did so, and got the other half out quite easily. I repeat the advice to the Half■ Holiday Association. I AM ONE WHO IS iNTERfISriJD.
