ZEALANDIA’S CARGO.

To the Editor.

S R, —In reply to the letter of **ooll- - signee,’’ in yesterday’s issue of the Evening ’ St >R, I can inform him that the only goods | received up to the time of his writing, by the Railway Company, were delivered at the I Dunedin goods shed within two hours of their receipt from the ship. I would also inform “Consignee” that nearly all the cargo at prest undischarged has gone over the side into lighters, ‘ Consignee ” can, therefore, judge where the detention, if any, has arisen. —I am, &c., Observer. Port Chalmers, 23rd January, 1873. To the, Editor. Fir, Your correspondent, “ A Consignee,” must surely have been in a state of somnolence for the past fortnight, otherwise he would never attempt to make such a statement as, “ that none of the Zealandm’s cargo had yet been delivered.” I should not trouble myself to reply to his letter, but as such effusions are calculated to mislead people. I. wish simp’y to state, that the first part of the cargo in question was brought to town by steamer on the 7th inst., and that since then there has been no delay whatever, either on the part of the-ship or the lighters with the excop ion of the] very trilling amount of time occupied in removing the vessel to the railway pier.—l am, Sir, &c., Veritas. Dunedin, 23rd January, 1873.
