THE VOLUNTEERS.
A match between the North Dunedin and Scottish Companies, the result of a challenge by the former, was fired in squads at both ranges this morning. The conoi ions were— Ten men a-side ; ranges, 200, 500, and 600 yards ; five shots at each ; 8-inch bull’s-eye at 200; position, standing ; class targets and any position at 500 and 600 yards. One of the Scottish failed to put in an appearance, and for him the average was allowed. '1 he highest score in the match was made by Vol. Frew, N.D., 49 points; and for the Scottish by Capb. Jamieson, with 48 points, As will be seen by the scores, which are subjoined, the Scottish were victors by 38 points: —
