The amount of revenue received at the Cus-tom-house on goods chared for consumption this day, was L 379 15s Cd.
There has been more wheat offering this Week. Holders of lots arc now aware that there is little prospect of higher rates being obtained, and they wish to quit. Several samples of prime have changed hands at 5s 9d and 5s lOd ; second-class wheat cannot be placed ; fowl wheat is scarce. In oats, transactions have become extremely light; there arc no buyers for export, and millers’ requirements at this season of the year are always limited ; feeding remain at 2s ; milling, 2s Bd. No barley : quotations—malting, 6s Gd ; inferior, 5s to 5s 3d. Flour is In first-rate demand, especially towards the end of the week. Prices are unaltered, Ll4 to Ll4 10s; second-class, LlO 10s to Lll 10s. Bran scarce, L 4. Pollard, L 5 10s. Oatmeal dull, LlllOs. Pearl barley, L 24. Potatoes—old unsaleable, at L2; new crop, Lls. Hay, L 3 15s. Straw, L2 os. Chaff, L 3 15s. A. Mercer reports, for the week ending 4th January, 1873—Fresh butter, in Mb and 11b prints, best quality, 8d to 9d ; second quality, 7d per lb ; fresh butter in lumps, Cd to 7d ; powdered and salt do, 8d ; for salt butter in kegs, 7d is asked, but sales have not generally been made. Cheese is getting more plentiful, but really good samples are scarce. Best quality, 9d ; second do, 7d to Bd. English hams, Is 4d to Is 6d per lb ; Colonial do, Is to Is Id per lb ; side and rolled bacon, 9d to lOd per lb. Eggs are very scarce, and selling at Is 2d per dozen.
