WASTE LAND BOARD.
The Waste Land Board met to day at noon. Present—The Chief Commissioner, Messrs Allan, Duncan, Hughes, and Tolmie. Messrs Cargills and Mi‘Lean, agents for Joseph Hutchison, applied to purchase (iU acres, run 177, pre-emptive light. Approved, subject to inquiry by the Chief Commissioner.
John C. Stewart’s application to purchase 7J5 acres, section 59, block 8, Bush Deserve, Dunedin and East Taieri, was refused. Mr JR. Gillies, of the linn of illics anc Street, appeared as agent tor tlm Municipality of Queenstown to oppose the application of John Kobnrtson to purchase liveacies at One-iuile Creek as a site lor a wooden factory. Considi rat ion oi application adjourned until receipt: of the Warden’s report. Mr Haggitfc. for Superintendent, applied for a rehearing of the application to purchase 41 to 45, and 1)7, block 2. Leaning Bock District, being lands held by J. 1). heraud under an agricultural lease granted by the Waste L ord Board on 11th December, 1872. The Commissioner to refer the question for the opinion of the Judge of the Supremo Court, under clause 19 Waste Band Act, ISGO, as to Beam’s power to rehear the case.
Mr Stout, lor Mr Taylor of Camara, appea ed to oppose the sale of the 10.(M0 acres applied for by the Honorable Bobrrt Campbell. Be!erred to the Government for further information. ; \!r ,vi■ Kay applied, on behalf of J. D. Feraud. to purchase sections .To to 4 b block 2, Leaning Bock District, held under an agricultural lease. Application refused. Mr M ‘Kay applied for transfer of a lease of a coal mine from Urcu and Tonka. Application withdrawn. Messrs Gillies and street, for Mr Moore, objected to the issue of a seven years’ lime burning license to John Nelson, granted 9th October, 1872. Mr Watson appeared for Mr Nolso:i. Consideration deferred to next meeting. The resolution of the Executive to have 10,000 acres surveyed for sale in Waipabi, and Glcuglcuich district was considered, it was reserved that it should be surveyed in sections accor ing to quality of soil :n 50 to 820 acres, each to be finished as soon as possible. On the question of re-lcasing runs 828 an 1 859, it was resolved that they be re leased under new regulations, with conditions as recommended by the Government for agricultural areas, including the agricultural portion as marked on the map, to be resumabie at any time wirhout compensation. Mr Brunton applied to be allowed to put in a return of stock for ihe !oi lois Hundred. To be referred to the new Board.
