Clyde, December 17. An indignation meeting was held here last night, regarding the action of the Waste Lands Board, in selling land in the Wai-keri-keri Valley, which blocks up the outlet for tailings for the whole valley. The meeting was the largest held here for some years. Considerable excitement prevails on the subject, and a deputation to the Government leave by to-morrow’s coach. Another telegram says about seventy persons were present at the meeting which passed a vote of no confidence in the Executive, and characterised the sale as the grossest job ever perpetrated. By the sale thousands of acres of highly auriferous land are closed against the sluicers, and it was urgfed that the Government were aware of the fact. Bluff, December 17. The Tararua arrived from Dunedin this morning, and sails for Melbourne at three p.m.
