The Waste Land Hoard,—TJi-' j now constitution of the Hoard is Messrs J. 'i'. Thomson aiul W. A. Tolinic, Chief Commissioners ; Messrs Hughes, Duncan, Allan, and Reid, Commissioners. Martin’s Day.— Mr Warden Loethara, with an influential party, purposes starting from Quee stmvn on the 4th of next month, in order, if possible, to iind a better track to Martin’s Hay.

The Volunteers. —At a special meeting of the Artillery last night, Lieut. Jack was unanimously el cted captain ; .Sub.-Lieutenant Muir, first lieutenant, and Sergeant J, C. Morris, subaltern. Goldfields. —The goldfields limits have been extended to include 80, 000 acres, hounded by a line from the source of the Mataura along the Eyre montains to the source of the Eyre river ; thence to its junction with tlie Mataura ; thence following up the Mataura to its starting point.

Masonic Hall. —There wu.su good attendance last evening, when the announced programme was successfully gope through. It was intimated by Mr Rickards that ou Thursday, the occasion of Miss Rickards and his benefit, a monster programme would he put forward, to include sixteen songs by himself, and four entertainments .coniique, while Mr Halhuu would sing his best songs.

Prince, ss Theatre. —“ A Curious Case” and “Naval Engagements” constituted last night’s programme. To-night, “.She Scoops to Conquer” aud “ O’Callaglun on Hie Last Legs” will be played. Indisposition prevents Mrs "Waller t - ill appearing to-night as was intended ; but to-morrow evening eshe wiL make her bow to a L>unediu audience as Helen in the “Hunchback,” aud as M rgery in the “ Rough Diamond.” Such an attractive programme ought to draw a line house.

The Opera.— The opening of the opera season at Auckland was a failure. Mr Cagli went to ihe Cno>al Hall, but the public was dissatislied with the arrangements. Only thirty persons attended the first two nights, and the company immediately went to the Theatre, where they drew good houses. Then the Choral Society guaranteed Mr Cagli LIOO a night if he went bac-. to the Choral Hall, which he has done, and by all accounts is doing very well there. Cur readers will be glad to learn that the company includes, after all. those deserved favorites, Signor and Signora Coy and Signor Ton meric.

Provincial Revenue.—The amount of Provincial Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 30 last was 157,449 ; and the expenditure during the same period L4G,GSG. Tho items of revenue were—Crown lands, 1.26,271 ; gold export duty, L 4214; goldfields revenue, LlOOl; harbor dues, 1.68; dog tax, 1.-J26 ; sale of Government buildings, L2Bl ; repayments by the General Government under Public Works account, LIOIG ; do. do. Road Boards and Public Works account, L 3552; repayments, L4GS; cducaL 95 3; licenses, L3ll ; tolls, L 2805 ; railways, L 1616, and the balance sundries.

An emergency meeting of the Otago Kilwinning Lodge will he held in the Masonic Hall, to-morrow (Thursday) evening, at S o’clock. A Concert in aid of the Church of England at Moinington, will be held in the schoolhouse, on Friday, Deo. Gth.
