THE VOLUNTEERS.
The third competition for tho Prize Cup presented to the North Dunedin Company by Captain Copeland and Lieut. Leary, took place at the Pelichet Bay range on Tuesday, fortunately a very good morning for shooting. The ranges were 200, 500, and 600 yards ; five shots at each ; Wimbledon targets. About 20 men competed, their respective scores being about the usual average. JSergfc, Pollock was the winner on this occasion, with a total of 44 points ; closely hauled by Vol. AUan, wdio scored equal with him almost throughout the match, till the last shot, when Pollock got a bull’s-eye and Allan a centre. Vol. Douglas, who was allowed to fire at Sawyer’s Bay range, and who was the winner on the first competition for the cup, was also very close with a score of 42,
