MAYOR'S COURT.
This Day, (Before His Worship the Mayor.) PLUNK UN NIiSH. Gavcnal Norman was discharged with a caution; Alexaudriua M‘Kwen alias Ferrier, was fined 20s or a week’s imprisonment; Robert M‘Adair, not appearing, forfeited the amount of his bail, 40s. NO CASK. Jane M'Lcod, one of the demi-monde, was charged with stealing a lady’s dress, valued at 15s, the property of one Arthur Lloyd. From what came out in evidence, it appeared that M’Lcod agreed to purchase the dress, and on the strength of her promise to do so obtained possession of it. She continued to wear it, and met the prosecutor’s demand for its restitution with an answer more forcible than polite ; whence the present charge, Ihe case was discharged with a caution. ASSAULT. George Thomson, dairyman, Green Island, charged Thos. Everett, of Caversham, coachdriver, with assaulting him. Mr E. Cook for complainant. The assault arose out of a dispute as to the rule of the road Everett thought Thomson took up too much of Princes street with his cart, and demonstrated his disapproval of that, proceeding by striking him with a whip. He was fined 40s and costs, including professional costs.
