{From the New Zealand Press Association.) Auckland, Oct. 2. A fire broke out yesterday on board_ the Nebraska; but was extinguished with little damage. The ship Bulwark has arrived from London, via Mauritius. Cfwstohprch, Oct. 1. The Canterbury land sales last month amounted to 11,013 acres, and ro dising £22,030. The cabmen have thrown up their licenses in consequence of the reduction of fares, and are now renting private stands. A deep sea fishing company has been started, with a capital of LIOOO. Wellington', October 2. The cabmen are determined to hold out. Education Board has passed resolutions asking an amendment of the Education Aot; also asking that certain lands, not >et granted by tbo Crown, may be granted by Parliament.
