The amount of revenue receive! at the Cue-tun-house on goods cleared for consumption to-day. was L‘2l7 11s Id.
In breadstuff's the market during this week has been quieter. Good brands in Hour continue to have a steady trade sale, and the price remains (irm at Ll3 to Ll.l Ids. for second-class flour the enquiry is very limbed —small quantities arc quitted at LlO 10s. Bran is scarce at 1.4. Pollard in good sale, L 4 10s (latmoal has become slightly firmer. The quotation is still at Lll 10s, but sales arc not forced at this rate, Probobly an advance will be made in the price soon. W heat has been offering more freely. Holders are asking 5s 4d to' 5s fid. Buyers arc not inclined to operate, and transactions have consequently been light. The market value of prime milling is 5s 2d to f.s 3d. Fowl wheat is very scarce. In oats more business has been done. Prime milling sorts arc firm at 2s to 2s 2d, and feeding at 2-l_ Malting barley is enquired for at fis, and inferior at 4s Od. Potatoes quiet, L 6 IDs; hay, L3lO s; straw, L2 ; chaff, L 3 10s. A. Mercer reports for the week ending September 21 Retail prices only. Fresh butter in .lib and lib prints, best quality, Is 4d to Is 5d per II); second quality, Is 4d ; fresh butter in lumps. Is 2d ; powderel and salt butter, best quahty. Is 2d ; second, lOd to lid. Fresh butter is a shade easier in price this week, the market continues well supplied, and a further fall in price may he looked forward to A good enquiry exists for new season salt butter, which is very scarce and worth from Is to Is Id per lb for good samples. Cheese is in good request ; good samples arc scarce however, and worth 8d to 9d per lb ; second quality, fid per IK Side and rolled bacon is fetching ffd to lOd per lb. Eggs arc plentiful, apd in great request at Is per doz Messrs Wiight, Stephenson, and Co. have sold, on account of the widow of the late Mr John Nimrno, the following valuable Clydesdale prize draught stock to Mr L. Mcnlove : —Entire horse Crown Prince, 22 months old, hy Emperor, out of dam Jane, imported, L3OO. The prize marc Marchioness, 5 years old, by Marquis, dam Lilly, imposed; also bay filly, 2 years old, by Glasgow Geordic, out of Lilly, for the sum of L3OO. The above horses were stabled in town last night prior to their departure for Mr Menlovc’s farm. Windsor Park. Onmaru. Considerable interest was manifested at the stable, and competent judges affirm that this is undeniably the best stock in the Province—the Crown Prince for his age being pronounced the most promising Clydesdale colt we have among us. At the ’Provincial Yards to day, nine heavy draught mares and geldings wtre disposed of on behalf of Mr P. Ryan. Tiic bidding was languid, and the prices fetched ranged from L 24 10s to L 47 10s.
