WASTE LAND BOARD.
Yesterday.
The Board met at noon. Present—the Chief Commissioner of Waste Lands, Messrs Hughes and Allen. On Gillies and Street’s application for a rehearing in the case of Boult, M‘Kay, and Co., further evidence having been adduced, the former resolution was rescinded ; and it was agreed to accept, payment of the license fee. On the explanation of John Nelson, it was resolved that the Chief Commissioner communicate with the Government with the view of their employing the District Surveyor to complete the survey at the public expense. On the letter of George W. Elliott, agent to Colonel Kitchener, being considered, it was resolved to ask the Government to take immediate action as to the position of the Surveyor. Mr J. C. Brown’s request, for the division of 69a, block 14, Glenkenech, was declined. Mr Alexander Mollison’s application, to lease or purchase part of Bush Reserve, section 4, block 1, Clarendon, about 36 acres, was resolved to he sold by auction as land of special value. Upset price, L 1 pur acre. R. C. Mackay’s letter on behalf of the miners at Switzers, complaining of the clos ine of roads, was referred to the Provincial Solicitor. Connell and Moodie’s application for William Wilson to purchase about 13 acres of section 17, block 12, North Harbor and Blueskin, was agreed to; survey to be sent in by the District Surveyor. James G, G. Glassford’s request that Hamilton and MTntoah should be ejected from the agricultural block on his run, was referred to the Warden. J. and R. M‘Lean’s application for lease to occupy five acres of Wyudbam Township for bleaching flax was agreed to. Annual lic'nse to be L2 10s. James Reid’s application for permission to prospect for coal was declined. The deed of transfer from Nicholas and Co. to Nicholas and Martin was approved. An extension of protection for six mouths was granted to Mr W. Brunton for prospecting for tin and copper at Bligh’s Sound, and Messrs Daniel, Calder, and Blacklock were directed to be informed of it, so that they might have opportunity of bringing forward any claims they might have.
