Wellington, July 15, 11.30 a.m.
A large public meeting was held here on Saturday night. Resolutions were passed requesting the Government to quarantine all Auckland vessels for fourteen days. The Government have declined to comply with the request of the meeting, on the ground that to do so it would ho necessary to declare both Aucklanl and Wellington infected ports, and that it would be absurd to declare Auckland infected because there are a few more cases there than in Wellington.
The Wellington arrived yesterday, was inspected by the Health Officer, and allowed to go alongside the wharf. Mr Kaye is completely recovered, and kas been released from quarantine.
