RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
This Day. (Before A. C. Strode, Esq., E.M.) Civil Cases. Stead v. Erridge.—The 'defendant was required, under a fraud summons, to state why he had not satisfied a judgment of the Court. His answer was that he had filed a declaration of insolvency on Saturday. His Worship informed the complainant That he would look into the law of the case. The defendant was examined. He said he was a laborer, working on the Government dredge, and was earning wages at the rate of Is an hour. He was married and had two young children. lie owed about LIUO, and his creditors had been pushing him for payment. The plaintiff said he was advised not to ask the prisoner any questions. Mr Douglass, engineer superintending the steam dredge, said the defendant had only earned L 66 during 15 months. The decision was postponed to Friday. Gcddcs v, Holland.—Ls, Judgment by default for the amount with costs. Talbot v. Smith. —ISs 6d, fur coraraissson for collecting the sum of LIS 10s. Judgment for the plaintiff, Os 3d. with costs. Power v. Isabella Murdoch.—Ls 10s 6d, of which L 3 18s Gd was the amount of a former judgment. Judgment by default. Foster v. Sweeney. —LI 11s Gd. for meals supplied. .Judgment by default for the amount with costs.
