A DISCLAIMER.

To the Editor. Sir—Under the above heading your cor* respondent “ W.C.” attempts to convey the impression that the newly-formed society called the “Society for the Investigation of Spiritualism ” is almost entir ly composed of “ sceptics.” Now, sir, 1 would ask if this statement is accor ling to fact, why are not a number of sceptics placed among the office-bearers, instead of each office, from tbe President down to members of the committee, being filled by an openly avowed spiritualist, each of whom took a prominent part in those notorious lectures of Mr James Smith, of Melbourne. According to the list of officebearers published in your paper of the 21st inst., I find the names of various gentlemen who have in various ways propounded The doctrines of this “newfaith.” I believe, if an infusion was made of true sceptics in spiritualism, into office, the truth would soon come out. —1 am, &c., 0.
