A Juryman’s Grievance.—A late number of the Graphic gives a singular illustration of what may happen to a jurvman in England, which it states occurred in the Court of Exchequer, where it would seem one of these unfortunates complained to the judge that he had been summoned to serve at the Old Bailey and in Guildhall at the same hour of the same day, and had actually been fined L 5 for non-attendance at the former Court. He also stated that to get the fine remitted he had to pay 3s 2d, the cost of an affidavit, in addition to the trouble and annoyance he had been put to. The Judge having heard the complaint, said he was very sorry, but could do nothing to help him. “What an intensely British look” (remarks the Graphic) was the whole proceeding from beginning to end !
