On Wednesday the town millers advanced the price of flour 10s per ton ; parcels in sacks arc now quitted at LI10a to Ll3 ; dealer’s lots are placed at Ll3 to Ll3 10s ; stocks in millers hands are light, owing chiefly to the scarcity of wheat. In oatmeal a steady business is being done at Ll2 10 ; parcels for shipment may be quoted at Ll2, if taken in sacks. Pearl barley is scarce, and is quoted at L2O. Bran, L2 10s. Pollard, L 6. Barley dust, L 4 10s. In wheat more transactions have been made, and now that the price has reached 5s we may expect the farmers to bring more to the market. We understand that several large parcels have been purchased in the northern districts at 5s per bushel landed in Dunedin. Oats have not improved; prime milling are selling at Is 10d and feeding at Is 9d. Malting barley finds purchasers at 5s to 5s 2d ; feeding lots are scarce. Hay, L 3 15s. Chaff, L 3 IDs. Cheese has slightly advanced, be<t quality is worth 6d to 8d; second quality. 6d per lb. Side and rolled bacon is ve>y plentiful, and fetching 9d to lOd per lb. Colonial hams, Is per lb. Eggs are still very scarce, and the demand is limited on account of the high price, 2s 9d to 3s per doz. The various privileges connected with the forthcoming Queens Birthday races were submitted to auction to-day and realised the following prices :—Oates, L6S, A. Muir ; grand stand, L2O, Devrett; paddocks, L 4 10s, H. Prince; stabling, LI 10s, Powell; grandstand booths, Ll7, Mrs Collins ; booth No. 3, L 9 10s, D. Black; booth No, 4, L 3, J. Cotton ; race cards, L 9 10s, Langley ; sole right to sell fruit on the course, LI 10s, Driscoll. Total, L 134 10s.
