WASTE LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Waste land Board was held at noon, on the 16th inst. Present the Chief Commissioner (in the chair) Messrs Held and Hughes. The following applications to purchase land under Agricultural Leases wpre agreed to, viz:— Bastings and Kofoeed, section 72, Block X, Tuapeka East. John O'Kane, sec, 2, Block XXI, Shotover, and James Chalmers, sections 24 and 28, Block Y, Tuapeka East.
Upon the application of Messrs Maccassey and Holmes, on behalf (of Mr Kerin, for a depasturing lease of about 24 square miles of country on the north branch of the Motatapu, about 30 miles from Cardrona. The Board resolved that a sketch should be forwarded, and the application considered. Inspecting the petition against the sale of Bush land on the Arden Burn, Block XV, Maungatua, it was resolved that the bush already reserved and the road to it, be surveyed and marked out. An application from Geo. Simmons and party for land at Preservation Inlet, on the same terms as that at Martin’s Bay, was referred to the Government for consideration. The Board haying considered the application of Geo. Gray Bussell and Co. that the Board should appoint a competent surveyor to define the boundaries of runs 90 and 179 at applicants’ cost; resolved to recommend the applicants to employ an authorised surveyor to survey the boundaries for them. Messrs Connell and Moodie, on behalf of Mr J. T. B. Poynter, submitted an application for 640 acres of land on run No. 140, B under clause 83. and] to have Mr Poynter declared the purchaser, was agreed to. ... Messrs Connell and Moodie’s application, on behalf of Caleb Dongee, to have Pierce and Washer restrained from taking coal or lignite from the tail race running through Mr Dongee’s lease at Welshman’s, St. Bathans, was referred to ihe Warden for report. The application of H. Manders, on behalf of John Plaisted and Co., for license to occupy a jetty site opposite section 6, block XXL, Shotover, on half an acre of the beach, for storage of timber, and that a roadway half a chain wide be left through it, was also referred to the Warden for report. Mr Harris appeared on behalf of Mr M'Nab, to have his Pre-emptive Eight on run No. 194, recognised under the 63rd clause of the Waste Land Act, 1860. The Board resolved that application should be made iu terms of the Act.
