(from greville’s telegram company, reuter’s agents.) Auckland, May 15. The Grammar School, in conjunction with the Central Board of Education, proposes to offer five exhibitions of L.30 a year each. A trial by the Bank of New Zealand of stuff tak*'ii from the margin of Lake Taupo, showed both gold and silver existing in small quantities. Taranaki, May IS. The Council passed another resolution requesting the Government to immediately commence the Waitara Railway. The Government offered LIOOO reward for the discovery of goldfields within the Province. Gold is said to have been brought in by the Natives. Westport, May 15. Mr E. De Carlo was drowned to-day in the river.
