WHERE DID IT COME FROM?

To the Editor. Sir, —Your Saturday’s issue contains an article headed, “ Where did it come from ?” stating that a kangaroo bad been seen near Mount Watkins, Waikouaiti, and lately confirmed by a Mr Dasent, and supposed to be the progeny of some that, as was stated, had been liberated on Mr Dansey’s run, Oamaru, As many of your readers may not be aware that in 1869, the Acclimatisation Society liberated five kangaroos in tbe vicinity of Dunedin, one of which I have raised several times since not far from the grounds, and last heard of making his way northwards. So, taking into consideration the distances between the places mentioned, 1 think it is quite possible and much more probable! that the one seen will be either the progeny of one of the lot liberated by the society.—l am, &cF.
