(from greville’s telegram company, reuteh’s agents.) Wellington, May 4. A meeting was held last evening for the purpose of arranging an interprovincial regatta, to take place in Wellington waters. The Superintendent was in the chair. The proposal was approved, and a committee appointed at the close of the meeting. Ll2O was subscribed. Auckland, May 3. Meetings of merchants have been held in consequence of their dissatisfaction with Shaw. Savilles, and Co.’s New Zealand arrangements. It was resolved to form a freight company for the whole of New Zealand, and to charter vessels. The Government intends introducing a Customs Drawbacks Bill on a liberal scale shortly. The Chamber of Commerce here is preparing information for the guidance of Government in the matter.
