CONFERENCE OF MAYORS.

Y ESTEUDAV. The adjourned meeting was held in the City Council Chambers yesterday afternoon. Several members reported that they had had interviews with the representatives of their own and other country districts, and that there seemed to be a general disposition to support the Government scheme. It was resolved that every effort be made by members of the Conference to render the measure successful. On the motion of the Mayor of Lawrence, the thanks of the Conference were awarded to his Worship the Mayor of Dunedin, who having suitably replied, the Conference was dissolved.
