WASTE LAND BOARD.
The Waste Land Board met at noon yesterday. Present the Chief Commissioner of Waste Lands in the chair, Messrs Reid, Duncan, and Hughes. William Brown’s application for a lease of 80 acres of Strath Taieri Township was declined. The east part of the township to be put up for sale in sections as surveyed and duly advertised. The application of E. Waitkcn to purchase his pre-emptive right, in terms of the 83rd c’auso of the Waste Land Act, 1866, was directed to be amended, so as to take up less frontage and avoid the village site prior to being approved. The Switzer’s Manse site was approved. The consideration of Robert Botson’s application to have ’J’ota'a Island, Clutha river, opened for sale, was approved. On the application by W. Turton, on behalf of Williams and Archer, for a jetty site at Kingston, it was directed that an annual license be granted at H per annum. On Cable and Drummond’s application to purchase bush land in Waipori and Maungatua districts, they were directed to be informed that the bush and road would he excluded, and a surveyor must be fouud for the applicant. Council and Moodie’s application, on behalf of D. MTCellar, to have sections 24, 33, and 34, block 8, Clarendon, put up for sale, was agreed to. Same, for same, to have the reserve withdrawn from sections 1, 2, and 3, Waihola district, and the land offered for sale. The applicant was directed to survey the road, the land then to be put up for sale, with the cost of survey added.
Same, for Ralph Moir, to have 16£ acres, town of Balclutha, put up for sale. Declined.
Same, for Martin Macfarlane, for license to occupy one acre, part of Kaitangata, for a coal-shed and jetty. Granted—frontage not to exceed one hundred feet. Annual license, LI.
Mr Reid’s application, for John Paterson, for a reduction of his saw-mill license at Tapanui from L3O to L2O, was considered. Under the special circumstances license to be reduced LIU for one year. Cable and Drummond’s application to have section M, block 15, Mauugatua, put up for sale at IDs an acre, was agreed to. Thomas Miller’s application for permission to cut flax on unsold land in Dunedin and East Taieri District, blocks, was granted without exclusive privilege. On Warden Robinson’s report, respecting David Stewart’s application to purchase a qnaiter of an acre at his hotel at .'-a.-eby, the land was directed to be s rveyed by the applicant and offered at auction, with valuation attached. Upset price, L 5, A report was directed to be obtained respecting a ferry site applied for at Rocky Point, on the Clutha River, by JVDZiele, for George M'Lauclilan.
Connell and Moodie’s application, on behalf of AY. A, Ewing and Co., to cut flax on Cemetery Reserve Coast District, was granted, bio exclusive privilege granted.
