(FROM OREVILLE’s TELEGRAM COMPANY, REUTER’S AGENTS.) Auckland, April 25. The half-yearly meeting of the Bank of New Zealand was held yesterday. The report showed a net profit up to March 31, after providing for all bad and doubtful debts, of 1.44,1)95, while the balance from the last half-year was L 7.004. A dividend at the rate of 15 per cent, per annum was declared, leaving L7,60i) undivided. The Governor, accompanied by Mr Donald M'Lean, arrived at the Thames yesterday, having crossed overland from Kati-kati to Oliinemuri. H ; s Excellency visited the hj acting mines yesterday, and reached Auckland last night. There are bitter complaints from the country districts of destruction of crops bypheasants. The Volunteer Representatives w r rite to the Cross accusing Colonel Hariugton of strong parti ality towards Otago, and of unfair treatment of other representatives. They also complain that the stewards at the ball left strangers (representatives) to watch the Christchurch people dancing, having secured all the partners for themselves.
