The case against James Grant for neglecting to cojiJjribute towards t e support of his ch Idren in the Industrial school was withdrawn by the police, the defendant having promised to comply with the terms of the order unde last week. Mary Rodens, charged with a similar offence, pleaded inability to make any payment, having only been discharged from gaol on Monday. The case was dismissed, in order that the police might be afforded an opportunity of ascertaining how she conducts herself in future. VAGRANCY, Alex. Cowie, charged with using obscene language, did not appear, and a warrant was ordered to issue for his apprehension, ILLEGAL DETENTION, John Mathcsou v, Alex. Steel, a charge of illegally detaining a horse, was withdrawn.
