At the first stage Volunteer Atcheson made 28 points, Volunteer Henderson 32, and at the second stage Volunteer Henderson 44 Henderson is therefore the only company representative. Auckland, January 18. An influential deputation waited on Mr Ormonc 1 to urge the extension of the Kaipara Railway to Auckland. Mr Ormond requested that statistics of the trade of the district should bo furnished him, and promised to have the line surveyed. The City of Auckland has sailed for London, with a cargo valued at L 44,245. Flour is rather firmer; Canterbury brands, Ll2 to Ll4. The share market is dull. The whole country from Awatere to Flaxbourne is burned. Sheep were roasted alive in mobs ; fences and feed were all destroyed. The fire is still raging, and is now spreading behind Messrs Richmond and Stafford’s runs. The Cape Run was burned, with about twenty miles of country near Starborough. The homestead was saved with difficulty.
